Pressure sensor 6 bar, pressure transducer 6 bar or pressure gauge sensor 6 bar is a specialized device used for measuring and monitoring pressure within the range of 0 to 6 bar. This pressure range is typically found in engineering systems that require high accuracy and tight pressure control, such as water supply systems, low-pressure compressed air, RO water purification machines, laboratory equipment, medical devices, and HVAC applications.
A pressure sensor is a device that measures the pressure of liquids or gases and converts that pressure into an electrical signal (analog/digital) for monitoring, control, or display purposes.
In practice, a 6 bar pressure level is considered low and commonly encountered in safe working environments where high pressure is not required. Therefore, 6 bar sensors are often chosen to measure low stresses in pipelines, storage tanks, low-pressure pumps, or equipment that may be affected by residual pressure.
Working principle of the pressure sensor 6 bar:
- The device operates on the electromechanical conversion principle. When pressure from a liquid or gas acts on the diaphragm, this force causes a micro-deformation of the diaphragm. This deformation is detected and converted through sensing elements such as strain gauges, piezoresistive sensors, or capacitive sensors, generating an electrical signal proportional to the measured pressure.
- The electrical signal is then amplified and processed inside the sensor’s electronics and output in standard industrial formats such as:
- Linear analog signals: 4–20 mA or 0–10 V – commonly used in industry and easily integrated with PLCs.
- Digital signals: RS485 Modbus RTU – stable data transmission, anti-interference, suitable for remote monitoring systems (SCADA, BMS, IoT…).
- Depending on the application, the sensor can be calibrated to measure gauge pressure, absolute pressure, or differential pressure.
Typical applications of the 6 bar pressure sensor
- With its low-pressure measurement capability, the 6 bar pressure sensor is used in many engineering and automation fields, such as:
- Low-pressure pneumatic systems: measuring and monitoring the output pressure of mini compressors and regulator systems.
- RO water filtration and domestic water supply: controlling inlet and outlet pressure of filter membranes.
- Air conditioning and HVAC: measuring fan and duct pressure, monitoring cooling water pressure in chillers.
- Cleanroom, pharmaceutical, and food applications: controlling pressure in filling or sterilization processes.
- Medical equipment: integrated in ventilators, blood pressure monitors, oxygen monitoring systems.
- Laboratory and research: precise pressure measurement in micro test environments.
Notes when choosing a 6 bar pressure sensor
- When selecting a 6 bar pressure sensor, users should consider key technical factors such as:
- Medium type: gas, water, oil, or corrosive fluids → choose appropriate housing and diaphragm materials (stainless steel, ceramic, PTFE…).
- Output signal type: analog or digital? Is it compatible with the PLC?
- Operating environment: humidity, vibration, dust, explosion risk → choose IP67, vibration-proof, explosion-proof models.
- Accuracy requirements: for medical or laboratory use, choose sensors with low error (±0.25% FS).
Common pressure sensor 0–6 bar types:
Oil Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Specialized for measuring and monitoring oil pressure (hydraulic oil, lubricants, engine oil) in the 0–6 bar range. Built to handle viscous fluids, low pressures, and resistant to corrosion or oil deposits.
Water Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Designed to measure water pressure from 0 to 6 bar, used in water supply systems, pumps, pipelines, and storage tanks for abnormal pressure detection and protection.
Gas Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Measures and monitors air or compressed gas pressure within the 0–6 bar range, suitable for regulation, pneumatic monitoring, and industrial automation.
Diaphragm Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Uses a flush diaphragm structure to measure low-pressure liquids or gases. The flat sensing face prevents residue buildup and is easy to clean—ideal for viscous, corrosive, or hygienic applications.
Chemical Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Designed for corrosive chemical environments (acids, alkalis, reactive liquids) with special materials like SS316L, PTFE, PVDF, or Hastelloy to resist corrosion, leakage, and signal interference.
Liquid Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Measures various liquids in the 0–6 bar range, monitoring pressure in tanks, pipelines, and pumps. Converts pressure on the diaphragm into analog or digital signals for control systems.
Pump Pressure Sensor 0–6 bar
Monitors and controls pump pressure in the 0–6 bar range for water pumps, oil pumps, and chemical pumps. Provides early overpressure alerts and can trigger shutdown to protect pumps.
The pressure sensor 6 bar is one of the most important and widely used sensors in automation systems, industrial plants, HVAC systems, hydraulic stations, and many domestic applications.
