OVERVIEW OF 3 NM DAMPER ACTUATORS
A 3 Nm damper actuator is an electro-mechanical device designed to control the opening position of air dampers in HVAC systems. The term “3 Nm” refers to the actuator torque rating (3 Newton-meters), which represents the rotational force generated to open, close, or modulate the damper blade angle.

A typical 3 Nm damper actuator consists of the following components:

OPERATING PRINCIPLE OF 3 NM DAMPER ACTUATORS
The operating sequence of a standard 3 Nm damper actuator includes the following steps:

STEP 1 - Control Signal Input
The actuator receives commands from a central controller such as PLC, BMS, or thermostat.

  • On/Off: Simple open/close operation
  • 0-10V modulating signal: Continuous 0-90° damper positioning
  • 4-20mA: Current signal for industrial control systems
  • Modbus RTU: Digital communication protocol for modern BMS integration

STEP 2 - Energy Conversion
The electric motor converts electrical energy into rotational motion.

STEP 3 - Torque Transmission
The gear train and reduction gearbox transfer 3 Nm torque to the damper shaft.
