SO2 sensor modules are crucial in environmental monitoring systems, where they detect and measure sulphur dioxide levels in the atmosphere. This capability aids in tracking pollution, enforcing environmental regulations, and protecting ecosystems from the harmful effects of SO2 emissions.
A sulfur dioxide detector measures the presence of this gas using an electrochemical sensor or via an optical analysis system. Our selection of SO2 monitors presents a large range of single gas, multi gas, portable devices or fixed transmitters with different characteristics to adapt to each situation.
Sulfur dioxide can also be measured in the air and in stack gases by titration. After separation of sulfur dioxide and sulfuric acid, the quantity of sulfur dioxide can be measured by barium-thorin titration (EPA 1995k). Possible interferents are free ammonia, water-soluble cations, and fluorides.
It can be detected SO2 by using potassium permanganate solution. When SO2 is passed through an acidifeid potassium permanganate solution, then it decolorises the solution as it reduces MnO−4 ions to Mn2+ ions. SO2 give out suffocating smell which indicates its presence.
Sulfur dioxide transmitter E2618-SO2 is a member of new PluraSens® family of multifunctional measurement instruments.
Applications include wine-making, food and beverage industry, paper mills, wastewater treatment stations, laboratories and other confined spaces, where potentially toxic concentration of sulfur dioxide can accumulate.
The instrument utilises a fully calibrated and temperature compensated electrochemical gas sensor with excellent repeatability, stability and long lifetime.
Two analog outputs and RS485 digital interface with industry standard Modbus RTU protocol can be used to connect the transmitter to safety or building automation systems.
